Words

I remember reading an article a few years back about words and I suppose it stuck with me.

“Sticks and Stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me”… Ever heard that saying?  Of course you have, and what a lie that is.  Words are one of the most powerful weapons we have yet they are also the greatest whispers of love that belong to us.  I have been accused of “talking too much” but truth is I think there are those that “don’t talk enough”.  I have been reminded that we have two ears, one mouth.. Something to think about. (ha) Should we be listening more than we talk?  You have to answer that for yourself. “There isme standing web life in the power of your tongue”. That is biblical…

It seems that over the last few years I have become obsessed with words… I have a wall in what I call my “sitting room” and on it is my beloved photos of my family and mixed in between it all are a few word  pictures. I have others spread throughout my home.

What about you? What do you choose?  As you can see this is one of my graphic T-shirts. It’s something about a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of Jesus. (ha)  ( side note: I don’t even drink coffee).  Words are powerful on paper, they have power coming out of our mouths and they have power in our heads. I hope that in some small way you will begin to be more conscious of your words. The ones you say to others and the ones you say to yourself.

1 Peter 3:10  For, “THE ONE WHO DESIRES LIFE, TO LOVE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, MUST KEEP HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL AND HIS LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT.”

PSALMS 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
