Health & Wellness

Why do I believe in well-being?

I wish I could tell you that I’ve spent years traveling abroad, sailing the Caribbean or hiking the rain forest but truth is, I’ve never done any of those things. I have had a lot of different jobs in my life, from Capital Hill to being a Wedding Photographer, and each of them have taught me new things about myself. They have each given me tools to better myself along the way. I use to say I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be when I grew up but truth is over time i’ve learned that the thing you really want to be when you grow up is “HAPPY”.  Be Happy, Be Healthy and Be Authentic and allow God to BE the center of your life.

Here’s alittle of the scoop on being HAPPY and WHOLE.

Having been the over-seer for my parent’s health care for six years I saw many changes in our healthcare system.

What really began to bother me was the attitude of the physicians, their resistance to consider natural remedies and their apparent lack of time and concern for my parents as a patient.

It challenged me to gather information, seek education and see how I might make positive changes for those I cared for, would care for in the future and my own families health.

I’ve always been an advocate for Health and Wellness. I believe in a whole body/mind approach to excellent health that includes real food, real faith and finding the real YOU.

My desire to stay healthy started many years ago when I managed a ladies health salon. In my younger years I took dance, taught aerobics and played sports in school. I currently participate in daily/weekly Yoga, which I highly recommend. I find that it not only strengthens your body but it also helps with balance, muscle tone and mental clarity. For fun sometimes I just  Dance. You know the saying, “dance like no one is watching”. WELL that’s what I do. ( and yes the music is turned up loud ) ha

My first piece of advice is to keep yourself moving in some way everyday.

I have actively maintained a whole food/healthy-eating plan for the past eight years and I am a Certified Christian Yoga Instructor registered with the Yoga Alliance. RYT-200 & RYFT-200 with YOGA FAITH. I have completed my training in Trauma Sensitive Teacher Training which give me more tools to work with those with PTSD, anxiety, depression and more. What an honor to be the hands and feet of Jesus to a hurting world.

My Qualifications

In 2013, I became a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and was certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners as a Health Coach. I take these certifications and use them alongside my spiritual gift of encouragement to help people like yourself improve their overall health and well being, both physically and spiritually.

I know what it’s like to burn the candle at both ends and find yourself in a place of total overload and exhaustion. I know what it is like to allow self-care to become a thing of the past and let your spiritual tank run low on fuel.

Depression and anxiety had crept in and the medicine they were giving me landed me in the hospital with kidney stones.

It was during that time that I realized that things had to change. I was shown an acronym JED… It stood for Jesus, Exercise and Diet. All those things were out of order in my life. I created a simple plan and began to work on my relationship with each of those things.

Do you know that you can get to a place in life where the only person you have to depend on is GOD? When everyone else walks away he is still there. He never moves… we do. He is waiting patiently to wrap his arms around us and love us and comfort us like no other.

I’d love the opportunity to help you be your happiest, healthiest, authentic self. “How will you do that”, you ask: ONE ON ONE COACHING…

  • Spending time working together one-on-one.
  • Looking at all the aspects of your life.
  • Teaching you how to fuel your body with the proper foods.
  • Get in God’s Word together.
  • Participate in fun challenges that will help us discover what makes you ticks and truly makes you happy.
  • Walk out the journey of grief together if you’ve lost a spouse.
  • Workshops, ladies retreats, cooking demonstrations, bible studies, faith lunches and much more.

My core program for getting Healthy is “Be your Happiest, Healthiest, Authentic Self.”

During that time you will learn to re-charge your body, revive your spirit and review your habits so that in weeks to come you will have created new habits that will last a lifetime.

There will be other offerings for future wellness programs in the near future.

The Challenge

“What one thing would you change or do if you knew you couldn’t fail?” I’d love for you to email me with your answer if you’re ready to commit.

I hope that you will decide to get on board and allow me to guide you through the journey of discovering new hope for your aching heart, wellness for your body, and healing for your soul.

Health Coaches Change Lives… Let me help you change YOURS.

Be Your Happiest, Healthiest, Most Authentic You!

Be Your Happiest, Healthiest, Most Authentic You!

So you know, I'm Kathy with a K. Little childhood story hidden in that. My life has been filled with lots of adventures. Through it all I have experienced disappointments, a battle with depression, the reality of losing my Husband of 20 years, YET finding HOPE in the midst of it all. I love to cook, listen to loud music, laugh a lot, I crazy dance, love the smell of paper whites and I love to tell stories.

I am a wellness advocate #certifiedhealthcoach, Institute of Integrative Nutrition, Yoga instructor RYT-200 #yogafaith as well as a Trauma Sensitive Yoga Instructor. I am a Certified Christian Life Coach and a Graduate of The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in Women's Ministry. I use these tools to help others be the best they can be.

I get up everyday with excitement for the mission at hand. I believe that through prayer, conversation, and inner healing work we can all find true peace and HOPE. God is ABLE. He has walked me through so many things in life. Things I wasn’t sure I’d survive.

You will find stories of love, loss, faith and hope all woven throughout this blog. I hope you will take a seat, stay awhile and join me on this Journey.

Bible Verse of the Day

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?

The HayMaker….

OUTWARD transformation is good but the transformation on the inside is Amazing. Your Mindset… everything depends on it. Something has to GO so that something NEW can come. Your heart is just waiting to be WOKEN up from that state that keeps you where you are. Maybe it’s time for HARVEST. CUT the hay, Plant […]

JUMP IN …

JUMP IN….. A friend of mine posted this picture yesterday and it brought so many thoughts to my mind. I saw the statement first as BEING BOLD. “BE WHO YOU ARE…” THEN almost immediately I ask myself… “do I know who I am?” I’ve questioned that off and on many times through the trials in […]

WILTED…

TO me there is nothing more beautiful than SUNFLOWERS. They just have a way of brightening up your day. These were given to me recently by a dear friend. I placed them in a spot where I would see them first thing every morning. They lasted longer than normal and truth is they just seemed […]

Back in the Saddle…

There are many things in life that can cause fear. Some that will literally keep you from doing things and going places, etc. As a child my grandfather and I would load up on his horses and go for a ride. Truth is it was my favorite thing to do with “pappa”. He would give […]
